| It's been close to 15 years since I played more than a couple times per month. I truly feel I am starting over with guitar. I Sing well (I started playing to back myself up), and used to write a lot. I’ve been in all kinds of choirs and played in bands. Decent rhythm and a 1-man band (MTI Auto-Orchestra, which I still have) allowed me to go pro for a few years as a solo act. The words as well as the music mean a lot to me - I wanted to be a poet with a versatile axe. But, money got addictive, so I opted for more steady income vs. what might have happened with my music career. Nowadays, I have two small boys (16 & 31 Months old when I joined JP). My goal in my own playing is to be able to play with them, no matter what instrument or genre they play/prefer. Both enjoy tinkering with the piano or strumming my guitar. They also love to dance and sing; my older boy carries a tune well already. We do our best encourage all that and more. Mom's a piano teacher with 14 years classical training. The odds of some musicality developing are in their favor. | |

| 2011/01/03 Update: Ok, I guess I am still Intermediate, just not very versatile yet. Thanks to Steve Eulberg's "Beginner" Lessons for helping me start thinking about guitar and music theory again. Short term plans haven't changed - never go more than 8 waking hours without playing, play at least 60 minutes a day focused on improvement, and to play songs that my friends and family want to hear by my birthday. | |
