Thought I might state my opinion on dis, but I think the reason why Marty did that was due to an at least former belief of his that hitting the wrong notes would give a more 'tasteful' solo. To me it just seems like he moved it up chromatically or som'n...I don't know, I'm not a theory person, too much. Great lesson.

supaflysupafly replied on October 25th, 2012

nah I think Marty honestly liked the sound of those notes. A major7 arpeggio is more of a jazz/jazz fusion kind of thing so depending on the person's ears it can sound good or bad. To someone who is into the sound of those genres, it probably will sound better. Marty also used a japanese scale a lot, which is another thing that was pretty unique about him. That's my two cents on the subject.

imaheroimahero replied on June 25th, 2012

Did that as in the second bit in solo part one with the sweeping sort of thing.

hey allen is that a warmoth build? what kinda PUPs do you have in it. the only reason i asked is cause you have that fender swinger headstock. warmoth calls that the arrow.

allen.vanwertallen.vanwert replied on August 14th, 2011

It is just the neck from them. The rest was from a tree we found. Dark Walnut. The middle pickup is a fender lace sensor the bridge is some semour duncan.. perhaps the screamin one.. and the neck pickup is a stock gibson I think.

darkailerondarkaileron replied on August 12th, 2011

jj90jj90 replied on August 12th, 2011

Please forgive me people. In my all my enthusiasm I accidently typed Dennis. I meant Allen ofcourse, sorry Allen! Thanks for the tutorial on this most awesome song! I love Megadeth. I think it's a bit too Metal in my head and too less brains at the moment.

About Allen Van Wert View Full Biography Allen Van Wert got the nickname "ROBOT" from his unusual guitar tapping techniques that often sound like a video game more than a guitar. He has studied and played a wide variety of genres. His experimental and eclectic amalgamation of music combining shred guitar, crazy tapping techniques, and electronically infused composition contrasted by a highly emotional soft melodic side, make his debut album a really fun and interesting listen for just about anyone.

Allen has recorded guitar for the famed video game soundtrack composer Jesper Kyd (Composer of Hitman, Splinter Cell and many other big title games) as well as composing and recording for movie trailers and TV commercials. He has also been producing, recording and co-writing for local artists in his small home/project studio.

His three books on guitar technique, ear training and songwriting have helped many students over the past couple of years. Allen has also played in various cover bands in many genres since the age of 16 and has played to over 5000 on a few occasions. He was a featured guest musician on the album "West Coast Shred Fest".

In his spare time, Allen programs video games for fun. Wooo!
