I had posted this in the chat room yesterday and figured I'd give our remaining members a glimpse into our recent filming session on Friday.

Mark Brennan and his wife, Marla, decided to tackle the Black Crows, "She Talks to Angels" in an acoustic-vocal duet. While the lesson isn't completed, I wanted to take a few minutes to post this sample for some weekend entertainment.

Feel free to check out the preview of the tune. It was an enjoyable night for all of us, and we'd especially like to thank Mark and Marla for volunteering their efforts for this segment. If you enjoy this clip, post a comment for Marla so she isn't afraid of being on the internet again!

We're back to work, take care and enjoy your weekend everyone!

Half Steps, Whole Steps, Notes and Theory

If you thought you could escape the relentless onslaught of basic guitar lessons from Mark Lincoln you were sorely mistaken! He is back with a vengeance in his seventh basic guitar lesson.

This time around Mark covers some very critical information. He will begin covering basic music theory! Don't run away as this information is crucial to every guitar player and not very difficult either. He will talk about the difference between half and whole steps and how this knowledge can be used to locate notes and chords on the guitar.

After talking about theory he will move on and talk about the A shape and E shape barre chords.

Van Halen Arrives: "Runnin' with the Devil"

Finally! An Eddie Van Halen tune on JamPlay. Nick Greathouse goes back in time when big hair and skin tight pants were the coolest thing going. In 1978, they released Van Halen, the band's debut album. This album is jam packed with VH hits, so Nick starts at the beginning with track #1 "Runnin' With the Devil".

This Phase 3 lesson is complete with solo and full song demo. Gear up, tune up, amp on, turn it up to eleven and now you are ready for this Van Halen classic.

JamPlay Server Update

As I'm sure most of you have noticed, JamPlay has been unreachable for quite a few people throughout the past few days. There was an explosion at our server facility (see other news post for details) on May 31st.

There were power issues, resolver issues, and DNS issues. The power issues were fixed by our host within 42 hours. We have just recently been made aware of issues with our resolves and DNS servers. We have made the necessary adjustments to get to some working DNS servers. Unfortunately, this process takes about 24 hours to complete (while the routers around the world are updated with this new information). Once this is complete, we're confident that JamPlay is back up for good.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Learn the Classic "Mother" by Pink Floyd

Alright Jamplayers, I hope you have an acoustic and electric for this one. Mr. Mark Brennan is back in style with another Floyd classic and is on double guitar duty once again. This time around, Mark teaches you Pink Floyd's "Mother", one of many great cuts off their 1979 epic concept album The Wall. Mark breaks out his Martin acoustic and Tom Anderson electric to cover this tune top to bottom.

I hope all the Pink Floyd fans out their have a good time with this one and keep it locked, much more to come.
