John873 asks, "Lets say we are improvising in the key of G Dorian, I want to begin moving down the fretboard to get some higher notes. When i move up to the A Phrygian position do i continue to use G as my root note; or instead, do i switch to A?" Another benefit of being a member of JamPlay is the video response section. Strumming - December 11th, 2007 (3 minutes, 11 seconds)
Zcarter asks, "Is there any correct way to "strum" when using the guitar? I have been strumming a specific way for a long time and I think it works okay, however one of my friends said if I keep strumming this specific way, it will be more difficult to play songs in the long run. Does it really matter how I strum? Currently, I hold the pick in between my thumb and index finger, but I think it may be a different way than most people... Thanks! Zac" View Response
Using the Metronome - April 9th, 2009 (3 minutes, 70 seconds)
Daveclamp asked "Hi all, I'm working my way through the phase 1 lessons and I've come across the dreaded metronome! I'm only in my first week so what I'm going to ask may be covered in later lessons? Would it be possible to demonstrate actually using a metronome for a couple of songs. Could this include showing how you work out how to set it up (i.e. how to work out the beat etc by listening to a song, a couple of demos would help). Also, could you demo the use of the Jamplay metronome, especially how to use the multiple beat emphasis option? Thanks for providing an excellent service...I'll send Steve Eulberg an apple! Regards, Dave." View Response
Question on Landslide - April 9th, 2009 (1 minutes, 59 seconds)
Clarky40 asked "Is there an advantage to playing Landslide with just your middle and index fingers, with your thumb playing the lower strings, as opposed to using your thumb for just the bass note and your index, middle and ring fingers doing the rest?" View Response
Learning on Acoustic or Electric - February 2nd, 2009 (2 minutes, 38 seconds)
Bruce824 asked "I'm strictly a beginner when it comes to the guitar. I enjoy the electric more than the standard acoustic, because I notice the neck is more slimmer. I also notice you don't have to press as hard on the strings against the frets on a electric as you do an acoustic. When learning to play from scratch, should I start with the electric or the acoustic." View Response
