Using a Capo - September 15th, 2009 (1 minutes, 50 seconds)If I am playing a chord progression in the key of G and a 2nd guitar is playing a lead line using the Em pentatonic scale, what happens if a capo is put on the 7th fret of the second guitar. Does the lead guitar now play in the Am pattern? A capo on the 7th fret with a C chord pattern produces a G chord sound; so do you use a Am pattern (relative minor of C) to get the sound of Em pentatonic scale. I hope this isn't confusing. View ResponseAre Scales Necessary? - December 14th, 2007 (3 minutes, 90 seconds)Jodyd asks "Is it really necessary to learn scales as part of learning the guitar? Once I memorized some scales, how would apply these to my playing?" View Response- July 17th, 2008 (5 minutes, 22 seconds)Skater742 asks, "Hey Dave, I am researching on different types of amps so I can come to a conclusion on what type of amp i should get and I've come across some amps that I need some help with. I am looking for an all tube amp but there are amps that are pre-tube to solid-state. Are these amps as good as tube amps? I've heard that they deliver the same sound, but I don't know if it has the same quality of sound as a regular tube amp. I just need to know the difference between the different amps that are out there. Hope I can hear from you! Thanks, Tom" View ResponseWhammy bar - August 5th, 2008 (6 minutes, 40 seconds)Rockerdon asks, "Dear Brad and DMAC, I have two questions. First, I have a simple guitar,a peavey predator and a peavey backstage amp(a small transtube amp). I have been playing seriously for about 2 months.I am between beginner and intermediate. I'm closer to intemediate. I have finished Dmac's beginner lessons and I'm working on Brad's Classic rock lessons. I want two add some spice to my playing. My guitar has a floyd rose double locking tremelo whammy bar system, but I don't have a wammy bar. At my skill level , could I use a whammy bar and where could I buy one? also what would be a good price for one? Also my amp has overdrive, but i want more. Would u recommend an effects box or peddle? And I tryed out a Wah Wah box at guitar center. Could I use a Wah wah peddle or box? Also would u recommend a box or peddle? Also what ould be a good price for effects and wahwahs? Thanks for all the help u can give. This Site rocks. ROCK ON!!! I seem to be concentrating on the rhythm, the strumming or what chord comes next. As soon as I open my mouth to sing I lose the rhythm. Do you have any simple exercises for a simple guy that can help in this area? Thanks in advance! Keep the great lessons coming! Maddee" View Response
