Date: January 6th, 2009 | Length: 2.65 | Instructor: Jim Deeming

Scallywag asked "First off I want to thank you guys and gals at Jam-play for the wonderful opportunity you give everyone to learn to play so many different styles, but most importantly we can communicate with you directly and get answers to those nagging questions.... My question pertains to PAIN! No, I’m not talking about fingertip pain, that’s expected. What I’m talking about is pain on my right hand about 1 inch directly below my pinky over the crease of the palm. (I’m left handed so the pain is on my right hand….) Is the problem due to tendons or muscles or both and what is the best way to recover? Note: I’m a newbie and practiced the chromatic cords for 2-1/2 hours in a single session." Relaxing Left Hand - August 13th, 2007 (0 minutes, 21 seconds)
Crosscut619 Says "I have been a JamPlay member for about 4 days now. I get everything that Steve is telling me about positioning my fingers in my left hand. My only problem is while I'm practicing chords, after a while, my left hand gets stiff. I always have to stop and shake my hand a lot. I don't know how to relax my fingers while playing, because when I do, the sound messes up. Any thoughts?" View Response

barre chords - May 6th, 2008 (3 minutes, 32 seconds)
Crackspackelpop asks, "I've just recently started playing the guitar and find your site very helpful. However, I'm now at the point where I'm starting into barre chords. When I play these types of chords my hand fatigues rather quickly. My question is this: Are there any types of guitar playing exercises that I can do to build up hand strength? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the excellent work. Ron" View Response

Barre Chords - April 24th, 2007 (2 minutes, 00 seconds)
kkringle asks "I was wondering are barre chords harder to play on an acoustic guitar because I just cannot get them down. My finger feels like its not long enough or am i just not strong enough. My sister can do them on her electric good with the same sized hands but im just wondering are my hands just not good for guitar or is it the guitar." View Response
