F#m7 Problems - February 21st, 2008 (3 minutes, 26 seconds)JZcode says, "To any of the Rock Instructors, I'm trying to learn a David Gilmour song and having trouble with this chord. The way they show it in the tab book is #1 string open, #2&3 string fretted at 2nd fret, #4&5 string fretted at the 4th fret and thumb on the 6th string, 3rd fret. This chords alternate about 6 times between the Gmaj7, the 1 thru 4 string version starting on the 1st string 2nd fret. Could you give me some idea on how to do this or the best alternate to go with. I have looked at the F#m barre chord at the 2nd fret that is almost the same chord except the #1 string is barred not open. The other thing I have been working on is barring the #2 and 3 string leaving the #1 open. It's not easy and it leaves the #6 string open. Since most of us don't have Eric Clapton size hands, how would you guys approach this type of problem." View Response- July 18th, 2008 (2 minutes, 34 seconds)Sylvia asks, "Hi Guys. I have this problem with my G-string. It creaks when I tighten it... Do you think I need nut sauce? If so what is the best way to apply it. Should I put it on while I have the G string on? Or should I apply it before I put my G string on? Sylvia" View ResponseLearning on Acoustic or Electric - February 2nd, 2009 (2 minutes, 38 seconds)Bruce824 asked "I'm strictly a beginner when it comes to the guitar. I enjoy the electric more than the standard acoustic, because I notice the neck is more slimmer. I also notice you don't have to press as hard on the strings against the frets on a electric as you do an acoustic. When learning to play from scratch, should I start with the electric or the acoustic." View ResponseA Shaped Barre Chords - October 31st, 2007 (2 minutes, 35 seconds)Mav67 asks: "I am facing a major obstacle whilst trying to get down these God forsaken A shaped barre chords. My ring finger will not bend at the top knuckle making it impossible to utilise conventional fingering that most other players use. The only way I can get it is to fret an A chord using fingers 2 3 and 4, then using the index finger for the barre. This is uncomfortable and difficult to move in and out of during chord movements. Can any of you please look into your vast vessels of knowledge and shed some guiding light to help me out? Thank you." He is ridiculously good." View Response
