Maddee asks: "I have been playing for about 5 years now and in all that time I have never been able to sing while playing. I seem to be concentrating on the rhythm, the strumming or what chord comes next. As soon as I open my mouth to sing I lose the rhythm. Do you have any simple exercises for a simple guy that can help in this area? Thanks in advance! Keep the great lessons coming! Maddee" Another benefit of being a member of JamPlay is the video response section. Our expert staff fields questions from our members and provides video responses each week.

Whammy bar - August 5th, 2008 (6 minutes, 40 seconds)
Rockerdon asks, "Dear Brad and DMAC, I have two questions. First, I have a simple guitar,a peavey predator and a peavey backstage amp(a small transtube amp). I have been playing seriously for about 2 months.I am between beginner and intermediate. I'm closer to intemediate. I have finished Dmac's beginner lessons and I'm working on Brad's Classic rock lessons. I want two add some spice to my playing. My guitar has a floyd rose double locking tremelo whammy bar system, but I don't have a wammy bar. At my skill level , could I use a whammy bar and where could I buy one? also what would be a good price for one? Also my amp has overdrive, but i want more. Would u recommend an effects box or peddle? And I tryed out a Wah Wah box at guitar center. Could I use a Wah wah peddle or box? Also would u recommend a box or peddle? Also what ould be a good price for effects and wahwahs? Thanks for all the help u can give. This Site rocks. ROCK ON!!! Lynard Skynard Sweet Home Alabama - August 2nd, 2007 (0 minutes, 47 seconds)
Clinsteadt asks, "Is there any where on the website where I can learn a whole song and not just bits and pieces of one. Plus I wanted to ask if you guys could start putting more current songs on the phase three part of the site. Most of the songs on there I haven't heard of before and it would be nice to learn some more current songs." View Response
Square Perpendicular Fingers - February 20th, 2008 (3 minutes, 14 seconds)
Dannychoo asks, "i had asked this question on the message forum and got a response, but kinda difficult to visualize it so i thought i'd ask here again. my problem is that i have a difficult time keeping my fingers square to the fret. i've seen videos of people playing scales and their fingers are very square to the fret. mine are always kinda leaning towards one side. i'm also having problems with fingers "flailing" around... as in when my pinky is down my index finger would be like 2 inches off the fret. help please! thanks." Rhythm and Strumming - July 16th, 2009 (6 minutes, 70 seconds)
Drnat1 asked "I am trying to play songs & am finding it difficult to work out a suitable strumming pattern. How to I work this out when all I have is the cords & the lyrics? I try to listen to what the original is but find it hard to work out what is actually played or how to sort the timing of my strumming so it corresponds to the cords & lyrics? This seems to be holding me back!! Many thanks for any help!!" View Response
Fingerpicking Technique - August 14th, 2009 (5 minutes, 44 seconds)
Ablazich323 asked "Hey guys, I've been going through Mark's lessons for the past few months and those lessons are mostly (if not all) about rhythm guitar and using a pick. However, i do want to expand my playing and i have tried to sorta teach myself how to finger pick but it isn't working out too well. Any advice that you can give me with finger picking and also are there any specific few lessons i can look at to give me some insight? Appreciate all the help." View Response
