Mark Kroos plays 2 guitar necks at the same time. Originally from Lansing, MI but currently based in Williamsburg, VA he is one of the only people in the world touring his trade. His primarily instrumental style is characterized by open harmonies, polyphonic textures, incredible tapping technique, and is as entertaining to watch as it is to listen to. Live performances burst with energy and magnetism not typical of solo guitar music. Drawing influence from folk, Celtic, indie, and even punk rock artists as well as other great guitarists such as Michael Hedges, Phil Keaggy, Tommy Emmanuel and Leo Kottke, Mark Kroos has developed his own edge to the acoustic guitar.

"I feel like a 12 year old kid with a new guitar!"
I am 66 years young and I still got it! I would have never known this if it had not been for Jamplay! I feel like a 12 year old kid with a new guitar! Ha! I cannot express enough how great you're website is! It is for beginners and advanced pickers! I am an advanced picker and thought I had lost it but thanks to you all, I found it again! Even though I only play by ear, I have been a member a whopping whole two weeks now and have already got Brent's country shuffle and country blues down and of course with embellishments. Thank you all for your wonderful program!

"With Jamplay I can fit in a random session when I have time and I can go at my own pace"
I'm a fifty eight year old newbie who owns a guitar which has been sitting untouched in a corner for about seven years now. Last weekend I got inspired to pick it up and finally learn how to play after watching an amazing Spanish guitarist on TV. So, here I am. I'm starting at the beginning with Steve Eulberg and I couldn't be happier (except for the sore fingers :) Some day I'm going to play like Steve! I'm self employed with a hectic schedule. With Jamplay I can fit in a random session when I have time and I can go at my own pace, rewinding and replaying the videos until I get it. This is a very enjoyable diversion from my work yet I still feel like I'm accomplishing something worthwhile. Thanks a lot, Greg

"I believe this is the absolute best site for guitar students."
I am commenting here to tell you and everyone at JamPlay that I believe this is the absolute best site for guitar students. I truly enjoy learning to play the guitar on JamPlay.com. Yes, I said the words, ""enjoy learning."" It is by far the best deal for the money.

Discussions with our instructors are just one of the many benefits of becoming a member of JamPlay.I noticed in your initial lesson you have a blue scarf wrapped around the neck of the guitar. I've seen this with other 'tap' artists as well. What is the scarf used for ?
thanks mark
Can an electric guitar be used for these lessons?
I second Jason's comment-an electric will actually be easier to use as the strings are lighter and allow themselves to be pushed around more. Some of the techniques that I will teach in future lessons will sounds better on an acoustic because they will invlove a lot of notes bleeding together, but I guess even that is subjective!
Definitely! The concepts and skills don't determine the genre. Take the concepts and techniques here and apply it to electric and create a genre bending sound!
Mark you look like such a fun teacher! I got enthusiastic at the introduction lesson, and I'm glad I don't need a double neck guitar for this, definitely sticking around :-)
Why thank you, it was certainly fun filming these, and if I recall correctly I should have more energy in future lessons since we filmed lessons 2 &3 at 8:00 AM after I had flown into Denver the night before. After that I had some coffee. I mentioned this in a comment on Lesson 1, but if you guys have any questions feel free to get in touch with me at www.facebook.com/markkroos. When touring picks up again in a few weeks I probably won't be stopping by Jamplay as much but as with so many Americans I have become a Facebook junkie. It's terrible. Thanks for checking out the videos!
what strings do i need to use? didn't hear it clearly in the video
