I've written some blues lyrics, the slow, sad variety, and would like to learn how to play blues on acoustic or electric, to go along with my song writing. I have a limited amount of experience on guitar, playing "chord-melody" style and some basic blues stuff, but feel I should just "start over", since it has been many years ago.

I'm 55, an x-ray tech at a large urban hospital in Tallahassee FL, called TMH. So…..

My version of "Working Man Blues":

It was 5 in the morning',
I fell out of bed,
Crawled to the shower,
Put soap on my head.
This way of livin'
Is hurtin' me bad,
They're killing me slowly,
and that's why I'm sad.

Could have been a doctor,
But dropped out of school,
Wanted some fast money,
Bought a stick, played some pool,
But I was a fool for thinking'
I could make a livin' that way,
So I became an x-ray tech,
And that's where I'm going to stay

I got the blues,
I got the TMH blues.

Okay, okay, pretty horrible, but it makes me laugh and if I could play some guitar along with it, I could have some fun with my co-workers. Ya know?

If you made it this far, thank you. I mean, THANK YOU.

Probably 15 yrs. ago I took private lessons on guitar for about one year, learning to play a number of "chord-melody" style songs on an acoustic and some basic blues style playing on a Strat. On a side note, I am a bassoonist, intermediate level, and play in a church orchestra. Took piano lessons for a couple of years while in jr. high.
