I have a wierd story so hang on tight. Now I used to play the piano and was interested in playing the guitar when I saw my friends classic guitar. I'm a lefty but he wasnt. I got his guitar, held it the way lefty' s would normaly do and tried playing it. I played like this for quite some time before I got my own guitar. This guitar was not a lefty and was a standart acoustic guitar with no cutaways. I again held it like lefty's would and started learning and progressing this way. Before I knew it, I was playing an inverted guitar. With the high E closest to my face and low E towards the ground. ( search the name "Dick Dale" if you dont understand what I mean and have a look at the way he holds the guitar and plays it) I tried changing the strings in order to try learning the correct way but found out I had to forget about all the things I learnt the wrong way. Since the year 2000 I've been playing this way. Infact I got myself an EPI Les Paul lefty and had the strings and entonation etc. done the right handed way. Just a few days ago I felt that I had enough of not being able to get better because the way I play was limitting me. Therefore, not knowing if I would be feeling this way for a long time, for not spending a lot on a guitar I got myself a cheap lefty electric guitar. The Cort X2 LH. I still have an SX Electric Acoustic guitar with a body of a lefty but a string setup done for a righty for back up just incase I feel I wont be able to manage learning an playing the right way. Thats why I need you support on this. I realy want to learn to play the right way and I wanna play good. I can study guitar for at least 2 hours a day and I am determined. Itd hard to be a player who is one of its kind...well nearly...But I dont know many people who play the way I do. :( |
