Ive owned a guitar since the early 80s. I only ever learnt open chords. I very rarely ever played. I started playing Tenor Sax about three years back so had tutoring for that. It made me want to study music theory. So I did the first half of 2018 at University doing a Bachelor of Contemporary Music. I had to choose another instrument so choose guitar. I played guitar in a Uni guitar ensemble and a Uni band as part of the course. I passed everything even getting a credit. I realised there was just soooo much commitment at a Degree level that I Didn't go back for session two. I did learn quiet a bit thou with the guitar. I have been and will again shortly do some short guitar courses at a local college. I play usually daily and jam with my sons when I can. I can now play open chords, numerous but not enough bar chords. I have recently learnt to play pentatonic scales in the five box positions. I no where I am if I start in A minor but have to work it out in other keys. I practice soloing but it usually sounds like scales!! |
