I want to progress from flat-strumming the chords of campfire songs for the kids to playing the fingerstyle guitar popular with folk-era music like Peter, Paul & Mary, Gordon Lightfoot, etc. Beyond that I'd like to add some melody lines to my picking. |

I learned to play some chords while stationed overseas in 1971. After returning to civilian life I tried some classical guitar lessons for a while and was making some progress but family/school/work pressures overwhelmed my practice time and I drifted away from it. Since retiring a year ago I've renewed my interest in learning to play and want to be able to play some of the songs I knew and loved. I still want to play the campfire songs for the kids but would like my guitar work to really sound good, not the boring flat strumming I've been falling back on for all these years. |
