Last month on the 14th anniversary of my eldest sons death, I decided to have the lovely 12 string Yamaha he played so well restrung and detailed. The musician who did this for me said the guitar sounded so good compared to his own more expensive 12 string guitar and that he couldnt stop playing it. It was then that I realized that the instrument had soul. I started fooling around with a few chords and scales and found myself with a strong desire to make it sing once again. Despite great frustration with my amateurity, I am committed to learn how to play this guitar. 2012 UPDATE I am tempted to rewrite my bio as I reread it 2 years later and realize that while this was the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place it is NOT the reason I continue to play today. Now its about the joy (and frustration) of learning and the chance to create and express emotions through music. Like everyone out there my story is yet evolving 2014 still going strong but have evolved toward classical and flamenco style guitar. Recently purchased a Manuel Rodriquez spruce and am slowly breaking it in |
