Started playing when I was 8 on a Sears acoustic. Could do G, D and C but F was too much and barre chords were impossible. I got my Guild within a month of getting my first job in '74. Although I could get an F just fine, anything beyond the 3rd fret was foreign territory. I picked it up after almost 30 years and began to get serious. About the same time I took up the 5-string - that got all my right hand fingers moving and I went up the fret on both the banjo and guitar. I consider myself an advanced beginner or low end intermediate player and am looking to improve my barres and up-the-neck playing. I am a fair-to-middlin flat-picker and can hammer-on, pull-off and slide fairly well. Bending strings and jamming on an electric is a new experience. Got my first electric about 3 years ago. |
