I got out of playing guitar for at least 15 years, but have the bug again. I used to be pretty good at playing classical music, but enjoy playing fingerstyle versions of the classic pop (and older) songs. I don't have specific goals for JamPlay, other than to improve all areas of my guitar playing plus possibly pick-up some theory along the way (always sucked at that). To be able to play something that other people would enjoy listening to is my eventual goal, if I have to pick one.
In a Band: No
Skill Level: Intermediate
Guitar(s): Yamaha FG-160 Steel String Acoustic, Yamaha Eterna EC-12 Classical, Fender CD60CE Acoustic, Juan Estruch Barcelona 1960s Spanish Classical Guitar
Amplifer(s): Mostly just acoustic, but do have a small Fender amp
I got started with the guitar pretty young (8 years old) when my father gave me my first acoustic guitar (which I finally got back in the summer of 2015). He was into Pedal Steel guitar and even played in a band, so I guess the music bug runs in the family. I took regular lessons from various instructors over the years and even spent a number of years with a professional guitar player (Richard Bradley). I got busy with work and stopped for at least 15 years, but in 2014 decided to take it back up again. I had to start from scratch because I even forgot how to read sheet music, but have been progressing fairly well so far. Still have to learn the entire neck of the guitar and dig into the music theory (which I was always terrible at in the past), but know having those parts down will really help with my playing so I keep at it.
