I am 81 years old. I can still throw a football or baseball and in good shape. I was an athlete, commercial pilot and horseman. My occupation was business and contract law. I messed around with guitar a few years ago, got discouraged and quit. I went through 3 expensive Martins. I decided I wanted to give it another go. I have a good ear and can sing. The guitar I just purchased is not a $2K Martin, but more practical for me, in the $600 range, and is a nice instrument. I know some chords, but am having difficulty getting nice clear chords. Fingers are now sore and hopefully will soon become calluses. I just want to play reasonably well, and do pretty well with finger picking. I really like Don Ross and appreciate his presentation. |

As I said, I messed with guitar a few years ago. I learned some chords, just strumming. I had an instructor for a while. We didn't exactly get along. I wasn't doing as well as I thought I should, got discouraged and quit. I don't exactly have a lifetime ahead of me, but I want to do the best I can with what I've got left. |
