| I taught mysellf to play guitar after after a lifetime being a trained pianist from age 3'and a trained vocalist since 1974. So I started with a practical knowledge of music theory and knew how to read music. Unfortunately, the progression of notes & scales on the guitar is far different from the fretboard. I could only teach myself what I know and picked a lot of bad practice habits over the years with my abiliry to read music stifling both my ability to improvise as well as to train or play b y ear. I'm interested in training myself in both those areas as well as learning some advanced right & left hand technique skills. I can play hundreds of songs all the way thru sticking mostlty to the open chprds but after more than 30 yrs I sound like a novice. Also want to learn speed & dexterity exercises, scales & arpeggios, barre chords and power chords. |
