I'm an intermediate to advanced acoustic player wanting to learn to improvise lead-type stuff on the electric. I'm in a garage-band type of group that does a lot of 60's and 70's stuff, and every once in a while it's my turn to solo. I'd like to be able to do that with confidence and creativity. |

Self-taught in acoustic since age 12. I played for church youth groups back in the day. Played a lot of early Christian camp-song types of stuff early, as well as some folk and folk-rock stuff through high school. Played in a folk-worship group for a church I was in for a while that branched into other early Christian worship music (late 70's - early 80's). I also learned to play bass while there (intermediate level - maybe). For a while I ran a website called GuitarHymns.com (discontinued), where I provided guitar chords for classic hymns. I've played a lot of contemporary Christian worship stuff, but mostly as an acoustic chord player. I know tons of chords, and what I don't know I can usually figure out. I'm now in a group that does some classic folk-rock stuff, everything from Gordon Lightfoot, to CCR, Beatles, Trogs, and a bunch more, also some 50's stuff, and some classic Country. I can do some basic scales, but not throughout the whole neck (yet). But I'm feeling stuck in improvising with those scales. |
