I started playing guitar in 1976, when I was 10 years old. My parents had a beat up Harmony Parlor Acoustic. I picked it up and found a Mel Bay lesson book teaching basic chord shapes and simple songs at the library. I found a collection of songs my mother had on the piano that had chords for guitar. I taught myself to play the Monster Mash and Don't be Cruel by Elvis. I was hooked. my parents bought me a Global Electric Les Paul Clone for Christmas and a small 10 watt amp. I played that for a month and started taking lessons. I have been playing almost everyday since. I still take lessons to improve and learn new styles. I don't consider myself a great guitarist. I am just another person that plays guitar.
