Become more proficient at both guitar and bass - but especially fretless bass so that I can write better songs, be able to play different kinds of music and eventually, if I get good enough, be in a band... like all different kinds of music, from country and twang to rock to classical to pop to flamenco -I really love Chet Atkins and Duane Eddy, admire what Steve Stevens does coming up With catchy riffs and then turning around and playing a swingeing flamenco/classical guitar. Very neat what Tal Wilkenfeld gets out of her bass. I prefer the sounds in the lower register, love a minor key and I like a sustained sound. As I see it, different songs require different sounds, and I look at learning different sounds from the guitar and bass as acquiring different tools in the toolbox to give a song colour and character. Have all sorts of different stuff in music Collection so as to study different sounds as different means of expression in a song. Discovering new stuff all the time.
In a Band: No
Skill Level: Beginner
Guitar(s): Gretsch Streamliner, Epiphone Special II, Bass Yamaha BB400S
Amplifer(s): Fender Mustang II, Roland Cube, (bass) Line 6
Played classical guitar and cello as youngster, then many years lapse. Took up electric guitar at age 54 (!!!) because we wanted to start a band at work, I was writing the songs and we needed a rhythm guitarist. That is fun but am leaning more and more towards bass, with guitar as second instrument. Bass feels more right somehow, but love guitar as well. Eager to learn both!!!!
