Started playing when the Beetles came out while in 7th grade. By the 8th grade I was playing rythem/bass in a rock band. Played in a band up until I was called into the Army. After Vietnam, I was still in the military and would jam when ever possible. After 9 years in the Army, completeing my BA in Education, I decided to enter the Seminary. After 4 years I received my Doctorate of Divinity. For the next 30 years the guitar was put away, as I traveled the world over for the Church. In 2003 after becoming ill due to my Vietnam tour, VA awarded me 100% disiability. Part of my illness was PTSD, which comes along with severe depression. In order to combat this, I turned to music. Since the guitar I had was stolen long ago, I needed a new one. Wow, everything had changed, and when I asked for a Fender Strat, they asked which one. The last time I purchased mine there was only one kind. Now, I have created a small recording studio in my home, and have had to learn things that I had forgotten all over again. Things such as scales, tab reading, and many beginner lessons. There are now 10 high quality guitars in my studio, with five high quality tube amps. Still, I am having too learn some basics that no one told me about in the sixties. I've been learning how to play lead, and I have always been able to play by ear. |
