"Cowboys From Hell" is one of Pantera's break out songs from their album "Cowboys From Hell", released in 1990. Both the album & song were often abbreviated as "CFH". The phrase Cowboys From Hell is a perfect fit for these Texan rockers. Having a heavy metal band come out of the south was is a rarity, especially for the 90s. The song was ranked #25 on VH1's 40 Greatest Metal Songs.
This song uses requires a lot of right hand control. It also holds claim to having a very unique introduction. The intro is based off of the "E Minor" blues scale. Lead guitarist, Dimebag Darrell, uses a very heavy flanger with a lot of palm muting for this riff.
