"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is one of Nirvana's most popular songs. It is the opening track & lead single from their 1991 hit album "Nevermind". The band members at the time were Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl. "Nevermind" was produced by Butch Vig.The song jumped to the top of the charts in 1992 right as alternative rock became a hit in the mainstream media world. It peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 & was loved around the world throughout 1991 & 1992. It became sort of the "poster song" for apathetic kids of Generation X. With this signature sound, they quickly leaped into the spotlight as one of the world's most popular bands.
Despite being one of the "greatest rock songs of all time" (according to many Nirvana fans), it is quite simple to play. The song uses a verse-chorus form where the main four-chord riff is used for the intro & is also used to form an alternating loud then quiet sound.
