Jesse Selwyn has been a devoted musician for over 20 years. He has immersed himself in the world of music since an early age beginning with piano when he was five years old. Through steady training and consistent studying, he developed a great feel for rhythm, dynamics, and texture while developing a distinguished ear for playing.

He transferred his passion and skills to the guitar 14 years ago and has been fully committed to furthering his understanding of both music and his instrument ever since. Jesse is always seeking ways to improve his musicianship and hone his skills.

“There are guys who have all the chops but have poor taste. They tend to overplay and be too flashy, and it gets tired quickly. Then there are the guys who can hear that perfect rhythm or solo in their head but don’t know how to transfer it to their instrument. It’s long been my goal to be the player who has the skills to bring these elements together. I strive for tasteful textures and good feel – I like to bring something original that contributes positively to the mix and fits right in there. It’s a balance of standing out while blending in. I’m always listening.”

Jesse has been playing live for five years with various bands and duos. His professional experience includes extensive touring with original lineups and live international television performance.

He has also been instructing for six years in both group and private settings. He approaches teaching with a laid-back and friendly demeanor while consistently maintaining a high level of procedure and organization.

Jesse plays rhythm and lead guitar on both acoustic and electric instruments. “I always thought it was important to start out by learning on acoustic. You can’t hide behind any distortion or overdrive – what you play is what you get. It’s imperative to achieve a clear, natural tone before moving on to any effects pedals or loud amps.”

Jesse is influenced by a variety of styles – his playing blends elements of rock, blues, reggae, jazz, funk, jam, and groove. He looks forward to sharing his love of music and guitar with players of all ages and levels.

“It’s amazing how picking up your instrument and playing a few chords can totally change your mood. It’s this sort of instant gratification and release. Music has impacted me so hard emotionally and creatively; I’m always excited to pass on a taste of this incredible feeling to those with the drive to make it happen.”
