Nmound asks, "Can someone give me a quick lesson on palm muting. I am working my way through various lessons (including beginner) and find much of the music i like involves this technique. Just a quick show and tell would be perfect. Thank you...Keep up the good work!!!" Another benefit of being a member of JamPlay is the video response section. Down Picking and Speed - December 3rd, 2008 (4 minutes, 41 seconds)
Seppo asked "Hi everybody! I've been trying to play some easy metal song like Walk from Pantera or for whom the bell tolls from Metallica, but I've had some problems with fast downpicking parts. I can't keep up with the speed, just playing the open E string fast is hard for me. I was wondering if I might have something wrong with my technique, 'cos the upper part of my right arm gets painful easily from fast downpicking. Sorry for bad grammar and thanks for helping! :)" View Response
Callus - July 17th, 2008 (2 minutes, 16 seconds)
Jdemail78 asks, "I've been taking Steve's lessons for the past month and during the first week, my finger tips hurt each day I played but I kept on playing because I knew that eventually I'd build up callus on the ends of my fingers and the pain would go away. Sure enough, that happened for the most part but recently they've been starting to hurt again. Not as much when I'm done playing, more when I start playing. After I play for a little while, the pain goes away (like a numb sorta feeling) and then by the time I'm done, they are hurting again. I guess what I'm wondering is how long does this go on for? I can tell that I have callus on my fingers but some of the pain is still there. Does it ever go away completely or do you eventually just get used to it? Thanks." View Response
Guitar Problems - June 12th, 2009 (4 minutes, 29 seconds)
Bron1003 asked "Hi everybody, I'm a beginner and have a question about maintenance. I have an Epiphone EA 250 hollow body/electric and while was tuning my guitar the high E string went "ping". I thought the string broke but it was actually the nut. The nut split and sheared off at the corner. My question is, can I replace it myself or should I take it to the pro's? I'm learning a lot from the instructors here and am grateful for all they/you have done for my traing needs. Thanks again, Ron." View Response
