Super light strings - May 23rd, 2008 (1 minutes, 80 seconds)Avalvira asks, "I restrung my guitar for the very first time and used Martin "super light" gauge strings. I noticed that the 6th (E) string resonates so much that if I pluck it too hard, it hits the fret board. Does this have to do with the gauge? The action on my guitar is low (the way I like it), should I be using thicker gauge string? This only happens with the 6th string. Thanks. Aileen A.V. ALVIRA" View ResponseChords Structure - March 21st, 2008 (2 minutes, 14 seconds)Scopexs asks, "I have found chords in my chord book that can be identically fingered...C6 and the Am7. Both chords give the option of playing it with the D string fingered at the 2nd fret and the B string fingered at the 1st fret while the other strings are played open. What is confusing is why are the two chord structures the same and can be fingered the same yet are called by two different names. This is confusing when learning chords. Is there an easy explanation as to why two chord structures would be called by two different names. Thanks" View ResponseC Major - December 11th, 2007 (2 minutes, 80 seconds)Redhawk asks, "HELP! I AM STUCK WITH THE C MAJOR. I CANT SEEM TO MAKE IT RING TRUE NO MATTER HOW I GRIP THE NECK OR FINGER THE STRINGS. I HAVE SMALLISH HANDS TO BOOT. ANY SUGGESTIONS?" View ResponseBarre Chords and Transistions - August 28th, 2009 (5 minutes, 27 seconds)Mcs88keys asked "I know how to construct all of the barre chords and how to find them on the fretboard. But I need help with switching cleanly, especially from an open to a barre chord. (like D to Bm or E to C#m) I never feel secure when I have to play a barre chord. I'm always hoping I nail it instead of knowing I will. Do you have any tips on what to aim for or some way to practice more effectively? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Michael." Once I memorized some scales, how would apply these to my playing?" View Response
