A shape barre chords - May 13th, 2008 (2 minutes, 38 seconds)
Theedge asked "Hi, I'm having some trouble with the A shape barre chords. My 3rd finger just won't bend enough to let the first string ring. While experimenting alternate methods I discovered that my pinky bends almost to a right angle and used it successfully in place of my 3rd finger. But the problem I have now is that this position is slow to switch to. So my question is : did you, during your experience, see anybody fingering an A shape barre that way successfully ? If the answer is no, do you think that my 3rd finger will become more flexible with time and practice or is that a physical limitation that cannot be perfected ? Thanks a lot." View Response

Proper Posture - November 9th, 2007 (3 minutes, 70 seconds)
Wasp asks: "i asked this also in the forum. just starting out (never even touched a guitar before). i bought an electric (jackson dk2m). was wondering how i should be learning as far as sitting posture. chair? stool? also i should be using a strap always? how to adjust strap placement for learning? should guitar rest on my knee or hang just above it? i know these are stupid questions but want to get started the right and most comfortable way. ps: i read somewhere to adjust strap to where its in the same position sitting or standing? my prob is the only way i can do that is if it is way up there it seems like. (thats what i mean by sitting position, get a tall stool where my legs are kinda hangin down or a chair where legs are parallel to ground? lol srry for the long post but i really nit pick things alot and just want to get stated right. ty and i think this site is awesome and look forward to learning." Guitar Travel Tips, Flying, Humidity and Altitude - June 9th, 2008 (4 minutes, 20 seconds)
nmound asks, "Hello JamPlay, I was wondering if you could provide some travel tips. Soon, I will be getting mobilized to Hawaii for a year and want to bring my Washburn acoustic with me. New York to Honolulu is quite the journey and I want my guitar to make it in one piece. One friend recommended de-tuning the strings b/c the pressure changes on a plane can make them bust. Also, is there a place on the plane for instruments as it is to big to fit in overhead compartments. Or, do I have no choice but to make it checked luggage (cringes at the thought of those careless baggage handlers)? Of course i will call the airline to get their policy, but tips from the tried and tested JamPlay instructors on their previous travels would be great. Thank You...keep up the good work!!!"
