About our Live Courses

We have upgraded, revamped, and organized in-studio, live weekly workshops broadcasted in 1080p. These focused, task-based workshops include full tablature, interactivity with the instruction, and even homework each week. We are bringing live, educational instruction into the next generation with this platform.

5,000 Lessons

In 2016 and 2017, we completely re-engineered our recording studio with top of the line gear, including a full suite of 4k cameras complimented by a new audio outfit. The result is beautiful live streams to your computer, in qualities as high as 1080p!

79 Instructors

Each live course is supplemented with full tablature, music notation, and even backing tracks. Our live lessons are focused, planned, and even give you homework options on how to improve and look forward to the following week.

Live Lessons

Our staff fields questions from the audience throughout each section, and opens the "classroom" up for questions throughout each course. You also have the ability to call in live with your own video stream!

Our live platform has been a major focus over the past 18 months, and we are very excited to fully unleash it's capability! Attend any of these courses with a full JamPlay subscription and get the benefit of full interaction with our instructors in a focused, planned course. We even have the ability to field your questions with live video call in!

Full Course Schedule

And of course, we keep everything, so if you miss a week you can always watch our archive of live courses. Tabs, backing tracks, and a full course PDF are provided for students, along with homework for each week! Interact with other students along with David and get the instruction you need to advance your playing.

Week 1

Practicing with Progressions

We start out by working with the most basic use of a looping device: recording a few simple chord progressions and then playing over them as if they were a backing track. This is a great way to learn to react to your own playing but it also eliminates the need to look elsewhere for a track that fits your specific needs.

Week 2

Be Your Own Bass Player

Sometimes it’s good to practice with a bassline. Get into a good consistent groove, loop it, and then experiment with some simple rhythm or lead guitar ideas over the top.

Week 3

The Guitar Percussionist

We might as well complete the rhythm section, right? In this session, we get to hit our guitar a bunch and create some cool percussion sounds. We’ll dial in some good guitar percussion loops and then add a bass line to complete our one man band.

Week 4

Doubling Down

If you’re in a live performance setting, sometimes using a loop pedal as a simple doubler can be an effective way to fatten your sound. We’ll explore what it takes to make your loops work as sneaky doubles.

Week 5

Capos and Rhythm Practice

Sometimes you want to hear what two acoustic guitar players playing on different parts of the neck would sound like. What is there to do when you lack a playing partner? In this session, we get to work exclusively with an acoustic guitar and practice playing capo’d chord progressions with the company of your looper.

Week 6

04/17/2019 at 4pm Get Access

Riffing With Chords

Using a looper can be a great way to develop solid riffs over an otherwise generic chord progression. In addition, if there’s a riff rolling around in your head but you may not be sure what chords to play along with it. Your looper can be a fantastic tool in this setting too; let’s see how!

Week 7

04/24/2019 at 4pm Get Access

Harmonizing

Play a melody, loop it, and have it repeat forever… or at least until you figure out the perfect harmony part. Because of the dynamic nature of looping, this is much easier than pulling out a full recording rig. It also requires less patience than finding a friend to play your melody over and over again as you get things in order.

Week 8

05/01/2019 at 4pm Get Access

Complementary Parts

We’ll work with volume pedals, knobs and some effects, as well as our loopers, to build some layered parts. This type of approach can sound so cool, but can also be difficult to get dialed in. In many cases, you’re managing different effects chains while working with your looper. We’ll make the process as simple as possible.

Week 9

Songwriting With Home-Made Loops

We get to dive a bit deeper into the world of live looping in this session. We’ll record several loops that represent different song sections and then we’ll arrange them into a complete map of a song.

Week 10

Choosing vs. Playing Your Arrangement

Continuing with our songwriting approach from last week, we’ll look at arranging and rearranging loops over other loops. It can be fun to combine different loops you’ve previously recorded over musical ideas that were not originally intended to go with one another. It is a recipe for some happy accidents.
