About Prashant Aswani

Few musicians can say they’ve had such a diverse background in music, ranging from Indian classical to rock fusion, and many genres in between. Even fewer can say they recorded their first solo album while still attending Berklee College of Music. Prashant Aswani, however, can attest to these, and even more, jaw-dropping experiences.
Prashant has recorded Four Solo albums including “Revelation”, “Duality”, “Sonically Speaking”, “Visions” and one soundtrack “Frequency” released by Lakeshore Entertainment. Currently, Prashant is the featured artist on iFrankenstein Movie Soundtrack (Lakeshore Entertainment) and is Producing AJ Mclean’s(Back Street Boys) solo album. In addition he is currently recording his fifth solo album with Jose Pasillas (Incubus) and Rhonda Smith (Prince, Jeff Beck).

I'm a fifty eight year old newbie who owns a guitar which has been sitting untouched in a corner for about seven years now. Last weekend I got inspired to pick it up and finally learn how to play after watching an amazing Spanish guitarist on TV. So, here I am. I'm starting at the beginning with Steve Eulberg and I couldn't be happier (except for the sore fingers :) Some day I'm going to play like Steve! I'm self employed with a hectic schedule. With Jamplay I can fit in a random session when I have time and I can go at my own pace, rewinding and replaying the videos until I get it. This is a very enjoyable diversion from my work yet I still feel like I'm accomplishing something worthwhile. Thanks a lot, Greg

Awesome lesson series is there anyway we can download those backing tracks in this intro. I learned the arpeggios but want a backing track to jam them over.

I was just thinking that Jamplay needed some material in this sort of Greg Howe-ish style! I'd love to see Prashant do some lessons going over some of his composed solos. I mean, the lessons on arpeggios, scales, etc are great, but it would be awesome to take some solos/complete instrumental tunes and get a run through of them (kind of like what jamtrackcentral does)
Later in this series, you'll have an opportunity to learn a number of complete solos from Prashant as well as key licks and passages that he uses often in his improvisation. The interesting thing about Prashant's solos (including his album solos) is that they are all at least partially improvised. He'll compose a melody and an arrangement, but there is always an element of improv. It NEVER sounds that way to me, however. That's what's so cool about this series though --It shows you how to improvise and sound truly calculated while doing so!
Very cool Chris! Thanks for getting back to me! I like composed solos simply because there is that element of matching the perfect notes and the perfect rhythm to go with the particular song, but then on the other side of the scale, I've gotta admit that improvisations done when the player is in a good mindset can blow any composed solo out of the water.
